Have you read any Grug books? Which one is your favourite?
The children like to write about Grug whilst Ms Dowling works with small groups of children in the L3 `engine room'. You can read some of our independent writing below. We love writing about Grug!

This term we have a new friend in KD. His name is Grug. Click on the picture below to try some Grug activities. We like to write about Grug. We will share some of our writing here soon!
Please enjoy some photos of the KD kids wearing their wonderful Easter Hats for Easter Hat parade day. They looked sensational! We have been reading lots of rhyming books like `Cat in the hat' by Dr Seuss. We have also been learning about making patterns. Last Friday we had fun making `The cat in the hat' a new hat! We know that patterns are made of parts that repeat over and over again. We thought very carefully about our patterns before we made them. The best part was when we got to eat them. Yum, yum!! A big thank you goes to all of the Mums and Dads who came along to help!
Can you describe any of the patterns we made? Can you think of words beginning with `r'?
Can you think of any words beginning with `u'?
We read stories and ate fruit break together. We went up to top oval to play `Duck, duck, goose' and `Stuck in the mud' together. Then we went back to our classrooms. We made our paper chain friends. Have a look! What a fun day!
Today is Harmony Day. The message of Harmony Day is `Everyone belongs'. It is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home – from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from many countries around the world (Harmony Day website). The Kindergarten children are going to listen to this story `Whoever you are' by Mem Fox. We are going to make some paper chain friends and share and talk about them to the other Kindergarten classes. It will be lots of fun and we might even make some new friends!
How will you celebrate Harmony Day? KD have been enjoying reading Pamela Allen's `Mr McGee' books. This week we read `Mr McGee and the Biting Flea'. Mr McGee has many funny adventures. In this story he is enjoying flying his kite by the beach, when a noisy dog comes past chasing the seagulls and making a din. Poor Mr McGee suddenly has an itch. He has been bitten by a flea! He begins jumping and leaping, squealing and sqwaking, rolling and reeling as he tries to find the flea. We drew pictures, then used the flea on a paddlepop stick to bite Mr McGee as we retold the story to a partner. |
